How it works - send in films

Step by step instructions

Step 1: Configure order.

First configure your order above. You can choose between 2K and 4K resolution (price difference) and specify a frame rate of either 18fps, 24fps, or 25fps (no price difference).

In our online order you can pay for the development and scanning of between 1 and 10 films. The more films you send in, the cheaper the price per film.

Step 2: Pay online.

After you have paid for the development and scan online, you will be taken to an order confirmation page. You will also receive the confirmation by e-mail.

Step 3: Pack the film and send it off.

Pack your films well and enclose a note with your order number - you can also enclose a printout of the order confirmation. You do not need to fill in anything else. For pre-sorting purposes, it helps us if you attach your order number to the outside of the package.

We charge a service fee of 10 EURO if the order number is not enclosed in the parcel or otherwise clearly noted on the package.

Step 4: Confirmation of receipt.

As soon as we have received your films, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail. If there is a problem, e.g. because you have sent the wrong films, we will contact you.

Step 5: Download scans.

After a few days you will receive another e-mail from us with the links to your scans :) Simple, fast and more convenient than ever before.

If you have purchased a prepaid package for the processing and scanning of a certain number of Super8 films, all you need to do is send us all the films you have paid for , of the material you are sending. (see below) of the material you are sending. This number is necessary for us to begin work on your film.

You will not receive a download or printout - the order number acts as a voucher. As we already have all the details from the order details, you don't need to enter anything other than the order number.

Scanning

We scan your films in the resolution selected by you in the edge-to-edge image section shown below. The internal image size, excluding overscan, is 2048 px for 2K and 4096 px for 4K.

Files & Downloads

You will receive your scanned Super8 films as a download either via Dropbox or via the Cinegrell Cloud. You will receive two files:

1x ProRes 422 HQ
1x H.264 MP4

Return of the negatives

As soon as your films have been developed, we can send you the negatives on a small plastic spool or a plastic core without a box, packed in a dust-proof package within the EU with tracking. This costs a flat rate of 4.90 €.

If you choose to dispose of your negatives, we will destroy the negatives 4 weeks after delivery of the scans in compliance with the GDPR.

Conditions and exceptions

The development vouchers booked online, including scan, are valid for the number of films paid for. If less than the number of films paid for are sent to us for processing, no refund will be made.

Likewise, vouchers cannot be split up: A voucher for developing 4 films cannot be split between 2, 3, or 4 different film submissions. The vouchers expire after a single use. This means that all films must be sent in at the same time together with the voucher or with the order number.

In exceptional cases we reserve the right to prior arrangement exchange or refund of the vouchers. However, a subsequent refund is categorically excluded.
