As a rule, we have all Super8 & 16mm film stocks both as 100ft / 30.5m Bolex rolls and as 400ft / 122m rolls on site in sufficient quantities. The availability of 35mm material may vary.
Super8 and 16mm film materials are usually always in stock - moderate quantities can be purchased spontaneously in our store without prior notice. Larger quantities, or if relevant timings depend on it, please contact us in advance.
The Kodak Vision3 film stocks differ primarily in their sensitivity (between E.I. 50 for Vision3 50D and E.I. 500 for Vision3 500T), as well as in their sensitivity to daylight or tungsten light. Daylight contains a high proportion of blue light, which is why artificial light films are more sensitive to blue light in order to compensate for the lower proportion of blue light in artificial light. If artificial light film is exposed to daylight, it is therefore significantly bluer.
Another main difference is the graininess of the film stock: while 50D is virtually grain-free even in 16mm, the graininess increases with the sensitivity of the film material. Nevertheless, 500T, for example, is still surprisingly fine-grained for such a sensitive material.
If possible, film material should always be stored in a cool, dry place in the original sealed cans.
If the material is used directly or only stored on the turn for a few days / weeks, normal cool storage protected from direct heat or sun is sufficient.
Freezing or excessive cold/warm fluctuations are rather counterproductive.
If Motion Picture Film is to be stored long-term, it is advisable to either store it in a dry refrigerator or even freeze it. It is important that no moisture is allowed to accumulate.
After freezing or cold storage, the film must acclimatize for at least a few hours before use so that no condensation forms on the film material.
The name is deceptive - if you use 30.5m / 100ft daylight coils for Bolex cameras in glaring sunlight, you run the risk of unpleasant light incidence.
It is best to insert the film in absolute darkness - if this is not possible, we recommend finding a shady spot.
We can only sell 35mm Kodak Ektachrome to film productions. A sale to private individuals can only take place if the material is shot as a moving image and developed by us.
For this reason, the film is only offered together with processing.
