Super8 / 8mm color negative (ECN-2)

New: Book and pay for online development + scan: Easier, faster and 

For 1 to 10 films, the development and scan can now be booked directly in our new online store and paid for securely via our payment gateway using PayPal, credit card or bank transfer. The advantage? We already have all the data and the order has already been paid for. The scans can therefore be sent directly without the need to write an invoice or wait for payment. 

This reduces the expected processing time to approx. 5 working days for online orders. If the film is developed on Wednesday, the scans are usually online on Friday evening or Monday. Prices for online orders may vary due to special offers. Price lists apply to orders placed using the form.

Super8 Scanning - Digitization

We scan Super8 in up to 4K. We offer special prices for individual films. 

A basic price including 10 minutes applies for more than one film. For each additional minute scanned, a per-minute charge applies. By default, we deliver your Super8 scans either via Dropbox or via Cinegrell Cloud Link. If you do not specify anything else, we will scan your films at 25 frames / second and deliver a ProRes 422HQ file via link.

Express Scan

Express processing for Super8 / 8mm may incur a surcharge of + 100% for a scan on the day of development or the next morning. Please contact us - we only offer express scanning for Super8 by prior arrangement.

FTP Upload

On request, we can also make your data available to you via FTP / SFTP server. Please note that we charge a surcharge of € 25.00 net up to 100 GB of data and a further € 5.00 net per additional 50 GB.

Scan formats & codecs

We offer three different image sections for Super8 film as standard: Overscan (standard), Edge to Edge and Cropped. We play out your data as standard either as ProRes 422HQ, ProRes 4444, or High Bitrate H.264 file. Please specify the running speed.

The choice of scan format does not affect the price.

Low Contrast / log & Normal Contrast

You will receive logarithmic film scans from us as standard. These are flat and not yet a "finished image", i.e. the scans still require grading. If you are unable or unwilling to do this yourself, we will be happy to correct the contrast of the scans. In this case, you will receive a normal "finished" image. Please select the "Normal Contrast" option in the order form.

We sell Super8 films online in the Webshop or via Order form by e-mail, letter or fax and on site in Berlin in the store

You can either order conveniently in our webshop with secure payment processing via Berliner Volksbank, or in the traditional way with an order form by e-mail, post or fax. Of course, you can also simply drop by our premises in Hasenheide and buy the film on site and pay in cash or by card. 

Prices quoted in price lists are net / excl. VAT plus shipping. Prices in the online store include the applicable VAT for the country of dispatch (EU), plus shipping costs. Prices in the online store may vary due to special offers. The prices published in the list below are only valid for orders placed using the order form.

Overview of currently available Super8 / Normal8 materials

50D - Super8

Art. No. 987
Low-sensitivity color negative material with extremely low grain, neutral color rendition and a high contrast range. The material is mainly suitable for outdoor shots with good lighting.Negative film is not suitable for projection without additional work. After development, Super8 is usually digitized. With Andec Cinegrell, however, it is also possible to Copies on positive material for projection.

200T - Super8

Art. No. 988

Medium-sensitive color negative material with low grain, neutral color reproduction and a high contrast range. The material is well suited for all applications, especially in settings with controlled light where 500T appears too grainy. Negative film is not suitable for projection without additional work. After development, Super8 is usually digitized. With Andec Cinegrell, however, it is also possible to Copies on positive material for projection.

500T - Super8

Highly sensitive color negative material with relatively low grain, neutral color reproduction and a high contrast range. The material is suitable for all applications, but has a more pronounced grain compared to the other film types. Particularly suitable for shooting in very low light conditions. Negative film is not suitable for projection without additional work. After development, Super8 is usually digitized. With Andec Cinegrell, however, it is also possible to Copies on positive material for projection.

Tri-X Reversal Super8

Art. No. 981
Medium to high-sensitivity black and white reversal material for outdoor and indoor photography (in good lighting conditions). The material has a pleasant contrast behavior with low grain, as well as good forcing properties to increase the sensitivity. The material is suitable for almost all Super8 cameras. After development, reversal material produces a directly visible positive image that can be projected directly. Tri-X Reversal is also very well suited for digitization.

Ektachrome 100D - Super8

Art. No. 982

Ektachrome is a fine-grained and medium-sensitive color reversal film. It is characterized by neutral colour rendition and good contrast processing. Ektachrome is suitable for outdoor photography in normal to moderate lighting conditions. For indoor shots, the film is suitable with additional lighting with the correct color temperature (daylight) or correct filtering. Reversal material produces a directly visible positive image after development that can be projected directly. Ektachrome is also very suitable for digitalization.

Fompan R100

Art. No. 981-1
Very fine-grained Normal-8 film with high contrast and medium sensitivity. Is split by us into 2x8mm after development and can also be projected or scanned directly.
 

Super8 copies (ECP-2)

We are the only copying plant in the world to offer negative-to-positive copies of Super8 film for projection.

We make Super8 copies on fresh Kodak copy material, which is produced especially for us by Kodak. You won't find this service anywhere else in the world.

We are the only lab in Europe that can develop 35mm color reversal and even productions shooting in the USA send us film material for development and dailies. Our biggest projects on 35mm Ektachrome include Yorgos Lanthimos' "Poor Things", filmed by Robbie Ryan on Kodak 5294 Ektachrome.

16 & 35mm Scanning - Digitization

We scan 16 & 35mm in up to 6K. We offer special prices for single 30.5 m rolls.

For more than one film, or for more than 30.5 m, a basic price including 10 minutes applies. For each additional minute scanned, a per-minute charge applies. By default, we deliver your 16 & 35mm scans via Cinegrell Cloud Link. If you do not specify anything else, we will scan your films at 25 frames / second and deliver a ProRes 422HQ file via link. 

By default, you will receive your Scans via DFT SCANITY. ARRISCAN XT on request - associated with additional costs. 

Productions receive individual, project-specific offers from us.

As a film production company, you will receive an offer from us that is tailored to your needs and contains everything you require. Just ask us - we will be happy to provide you with a detailed calculation and advise you. Turnaround of the scans is usually Same / Next Day.

Express Scan

There are generally no additional costs for express processing for 16 / 35mm. However, we offer this service without guarantee and require prior notification / agreement for better planning. Additional costs may be incurred in exceptional cases.

FTP Upload

On request, we can also make your data available to you via FTP / SFTP server. Please note that we charge a surcharge of € 25.00 net up to 100 GB of data and a further € 5.00 net per additional 50 GB.

Scan formats & codecs

Depending on the scanner (DFT Scanity and ARRISCAN XT are available), we offer you 16 & 35mm scans in the respective open gate scan size as standard. For 16 & 35mm we play out either a ProRes 422HQ or a ProRes 4444 file as standard.
