Restoration

Together with Cinegrell Postfactory, we offer comprehensive methods of film restoration and preservation. To this end, we utilize the synergies of a commercial copying plant with decades of experience.

We want film heritage preserve

To do this, we take advantage of an active commercial copying plant and, together with Cinegrell Postfactory, can carry out complex restoration projects on challenging originals - whether they are badly shrunken, moldy or affected by vinegar syndrome - we have the right know-how and the right technology to handle precious originals safely and preserve them for the future, so that more than just a file remains of our film heritage.

Analog restoration

from repairs to newly produced analog copies

Long-term preservation

e.g. through intensive mold treatment for film and tapes

Safe mold treatment of film rolls

Using a specially designed system, we can efficiently and safely treat film and magnetic tapes infested with mould and microorganisms in several stages, regardless of their carrier. Once the infestation has been removed, the film reels are cleaned with isopropanol. The film reels can then be safely examined or digitized.

For long-term protection, we can also offer biostatic immersion stabilization for film materials in order to inhibit biological decay processes in the long term.

Treatment of water damage to film reels

Fire and flood disasters pose particular dangers for film materials. Film reels must be carefully preserved, especially if they have been exposed to extinguishing water or the effects of floods. We have the right resources and experienced film technicians at our disposal to preserve the materials for posterity and enable them to be analyzed.

If you have film material with water damage, we will be happy to advise you and work with you to develop an individual strategy to save your film reels.

We research historical processes such as virages and toning

In our Research Lab, we research historical recipes and learn how to apply them to modern copying materials in order not only to better understand historical processes, but also to apply these techniques to fresh copies on polyester substrates.

We create photographic documentation of your materials

Whether for exhibition catalogs or internal purposes, we can produce high quality photographic documentation of film originals either as transmitted light, reflected light + transmitted light, or combinations of reflected light + transmitted light + grazing light, faithfully representing the physical and color characteristics of the materials.
